Mother's Day...

Six months ago, this post would have read something entirely different. It would have been a long diatribe about what a kind and loving woman my mother is. A woman that fills each room she enters with love and grace. A woman that taught me to always assume the best in others. A woman that spoke the words, 'if you have a smile, share a smile' almost every day of my life. And a woman that I have counted on all these years for the nurturing and support that only she could provide.

Today, the day after my first Mother's Day, the message seems just as relevant, but warranting a few tweaks.

On my very first Mother's Day, I had the privilege of waking up with both my mother and my daughter in our house, courtesy of my husband who made it all happen, much to my surprise. The feeling was unlike any other I've experienced. "Unconditional love ever-present" is the only way to describe it.

So on this day after Mother's Day, I've been reminded as I reminisce of the brief but meaningful memories from yesterday. I'm reminded to take time and treasure all the little moments that make up the bond mothers and daughters share. To go slow and take our time together so not to miss the wide smiles or animated laughs. To lay in the grass and feel the wind through our hair. To take naps and rest up so that our time awake is filled with energy. To listen to great music and dance whenever we can. To share history and stories over and over. And most of all to love consistently, unconditionally, and purely.

There is no greater gift than LuLu. No greater pleasure than to mother a child. No greater responsibility than to fill her with the same love and hope and optimism my mother has given me.

Here's to the first of many and a few LuLu memories with the mom and grandmoms she'll [hopefully] treasure all her life.

Long time coming....

Hi all, to say it has been a while since our last post is an understatement. Since then, LuLu/Logan has traveled the east coast 4 times, met cousins, learned to roll over (kind of), and developed a showstopping smile. We're including a bunch of photos, and trying our best to commit to more regular updates. Much love!

L.L. Cool K - Hip to Obama

First, props to Aunt Michelle for the new nickname. Perfect timing as I needed a cooler handle to jive with the new administration.

It's been a big few days here in our nation's capitol. While everyone has been scurrying around to catch a glimpse of our new president, i've been sitting back, waiting out the rush, chillin with Nana.
Does it get cooler than this?

Finally we make eye contact...can't wait to hang out now that we're grown up, and show you some of my moves Sam!

What's the deal here? Hmmm...I gotta take notes from my new girlfriend...Cyndi looks awfully fired holiding Sam.

Thank God Nana is coming soon...my parents can't take a picture to save their life

YEAH Nana!!!!!!!!!

Daddy loving it up on his credentials at the Inaugural concert.

I stayed home and watched on TV - you tell me that I'm not the sharpest tack in this shed.

This is me. Watching Obama take the oath of office on TV. You can't make this sh** up.
